Five Point Someone

Discalimer: I dont do book reviews. Do not attach this one even remotely to the book, tagging it as a Review. These are just the thoughts which were induced in my mind, after reading the book. Of course, i bought the book last evening, started reading it at about 10 pm and this is 2:45 am in the night as i’m done with it. Its not the kind of book which is so provocative that leaves me lost in thinking like this book did…Elevan minutes- by Paulo Coelho But yet, its still worth the money spent.

Five point someone.

To me, this book started with a big contradiction from the front-left cover page that started with a chetan Bhagat Biography and his education, and the end cover page that stated the five points why Hari, Ryan and Alok’s life were in mess because of all the stupid things that they did. From the beginning, I couldn’t see it as some close to real belieavble read, but just a fancy tale of an intellegent mind. Probably the how-to-do-worse-at-IIT and also how-to-miraculously-get-outta-it was something that the author has pondered over in this book. Those characters potrayed in the book are probably someones that the author hasn’t been in the shoes of. Probably that is. Well, his GPAs throughout the IIT and IIM says otherwise anyways.

So even though the book was a good read, I still kinda felt it to be unbelievable in some sorts. of course a few of my friends from IITs and IIMs said the book to be mostly near to truth, It was still just a piece of fiction for me.

What was your take on this book?

Ektz.

ps. The next book I am buying is ON@CC from Chetan Bhagat. I like his style of writing anyhow.

yeah, i read the five point some1 in one go as well. It was funny in a way,I liked his style of writing than anurag mathur, coz “Inscrutable americans” was crap!
Oh i have read the other one too ON@CC, well…wat can i, its not as good as 5 point, but his style of writin is same. So im sure tat will last only abt 3 hrs for u šŸ˜€ No comments on the novel though!

Ya same here..i found the way he has written about hostel life interesting. But apart from that, i dint find it completely believable!

i sort of thought the book was sad, as in life is not that bad for the kind of people in the book. chetan had come for a talk here, and said its supposed to be a work of fiction.. so i guess thats what it is..

I have lived in the same hostel (Kumaon@IIT Delhi) for four years and trust me its nothing like what Chetan Bhagat makes it out to be. The obsession with CGPA and academics makes it sound more like IIM Ahmedabad.
